Biography
I was born in 1975 and graduated from Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań with a degree in sociology. Between 1999 and 2003 I completed a PhD in the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology at the Polish Academy of Sciences. I received many awards and scholarships for my academic achievements, including the Batory Foundation Scholarship and the MENiS Scholarship. Additionally, I participated in scholarship programmes in Germany and Sweden. I worked as a research assistant at the University of Central Europe in Warsaw and later as an administrator in the Secretariat of the Committee on Budgets of the European Parliament. From 2006 to 2007 I served as an advisor on the EU Budget to the European People's Party - European Democrats (EPP-ED) group, negotiating the Multiannual Financial Framework for the years 2007-2013. Before being elected to the European Parliament, I was the Undersecretary of State at the Office of the Committee of European Integration. I am fluent in English, German and French, have a strong command of Swedish and am able to understand Dutch and Russian.
In the 1990s I was active in the Association of Young Democrats in Poland, where I was twice on the Executive. From 1999 to 2003 I was a Vice President of the Youth of the European People's Party and from 2000 to 2002 I was the Vice President of the European Youth Forum in Brussels. In 2001 I became a member of the Civic Platform (PO). Our party belongs to the EPP - the biggest grouping in this European Parliament. The EPP also includes another Polish party, the Polish Peasant Party (PSL).
My hobbies are Renaissance art, cats, dancing and gardening.
